Summer 2 Learning

English

In English, we will be reading the book ‘The Windrush Child’ by Benjamin Zephaniah. It tells the story of Leonard, who at 10-years-old makes the journey with his mother from Jamaica to join his father in England. Leonard is part of the Windrush generation, one of thousands of people and families who were persuaded by the government to help rebuild England after the Second World War and make a better life for themselves

Geography: Natural Resources

In Geography, the children will be learning about how fossil fuels are formed and explain their different uses. Pupils will use maps to locate where the UK’s and world’s natural resources are and how they are distributed. They will recall the knowledge they gained earlier in the year around rainforests and build on that by exploring how resources are exploited. They will also learn about renewable and non-renewable energy.
