Spring 2 Learning
English: Shackleton's Journey
In English, we will be travelling to Antarctica with Sir Earnest Shackleton as we follow him on his expedition on his famous ship, the Endurance. The book ‘Shackleton’s Journey’ by William Grill will be our inspiration; a fantastic picture book that navigates the reader through the whole adventure.
Geography: The Amazon
In Geography, the children will be learning about life in The Amazon. They will use their mapping skills to locate the Amazon, learn what life is like for the people who live there and the challenges they face. Pupils will learn about the devastating impact of deforestation on the area and the world as a whole. They will research the eco-system and how plants and animals have adapted to the climate.
Science: Evolution and Inheritance
In Science, pupils will learn about inherited characteristics and how living things adapt to their environments over time. They will investigate what fossils can tell us about evolution. Children will also observe and analyse the advantages and disadvantages of some adaptations.
