Writing
This half term our writing will be based on: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Over this half term the children will be focusing on writing for the purpose of; to make the reader feel as if they are present in the room. The children will be practicing using different vocabulary and skills to engage the reader. They will be writing a descriptive piece of writing on the chocolate room. Our grammatical skills will include: expanded noun phrases, personification, similes and metaphors
Reading
In our reading lessons in Autumn, we will be reading Charlie and the Chocolate factory by Roald Dahl. Every lesson will consist of an opportunity for the children to read and develop their prosody and comprehension skills. The children will take part in a number of activities to improve their prosody including echo and choral reading, repeated re-reading and performances. The comprehension skills we will be focusing on include visualisation, prediction, inference, summarising and making connections to prior reading and cross curricular knowledge.
