Reading Books
We have been busy investing in lots of great new reading books – unfortunately they were delayed! We are hopeful that every child should have a reading book by the end of next week. When your child has their reading book, do remember to read together (or for older children to talk about what has been read) most days of the week. After the disruption of the last year, it is really important that children read as much as possible so that they catch up quickly.
Missed Open Evening?
It was great to welcome families back into classrooms on Thursday. If you missed the chance to see what your child has been up to since the start of term, just ask their teacher if you can call in after school one day, they’ll be happy to see you.
Sports Update
On Tuesday Mr Longdon took a group of Year 5 and 6 pupils to Harvey Haddon to represent Victoria Primary in the first of what we hope will be many sporting fixtures this year. There were many different challenges which were both physically and mentally challenging including handball, relay and obstacle races, curling which is also an Olympic sport as well a giant game of Jenga. The children also had to complete a Design and Technology project in a short time creating a cocoon for an egg which would be thrown into the air and had to land unscathed using plastic straws and masking tape. The children were a credit to school and represented Victoria well and showed true sportsmanship. They represented the values of school and not only took all the challenges in their stride but also thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
