Reading at home.

Reading is a fundamental skill that is key to any job that your child decides to do when they grow up. Over the first term, lots of children moved up book bands and developed their reading skills by working hard at school and home. We try as best we can to read as much as possible with your child but their love for reading must continue to be nurtured at home.

Please ensure that you read with your children at least 5 times per week for five minutes. This could be there their class book, a comic, a beloved book at home or even sign posts when you are out for the day. Please sign and leave a comment in the diary to show that you have read at home. The children will earn dojo points for good reading at home and the points can turn into prizes for your child to keep.

We will be sending reading homework every week for your child to complete. Please engage with this as it will help prepare them for the upcoming SATS test in the Summer.

If you need any support with reading, please speak to one of the year 2 team and we will happy to help.
