Over the first half term, we saw some great progress with phonics and those children that practice their sounds at home have made real leaps with their writing!
The children will continue to have regular phonics lessons every afternoon and will be taught in small groups. The children will receive word sheets and games to help them practise these at home. Those children that passed the phonics screening last year will have the opportunity to consolidate their knowledge and begin to explore spelling rules.
The children that did not pass the screening will continue to have phonics to give them the best possible chance of passing next June.
If you require any help with supporting your child with phonics or the pronunciation of any of the sounds, please speak with either of the class teachers and they will be happy to help.
