Welcome to Year 5 - Bowden
Hello! My name is Miss White and welcome to our class page. Our class is named after Sir Frank Bowden who founded the Nottingham based Raleigh Bicycle Company.
This term's newsletter can be found on the side panel (right) under downloads.
Please make sure that PE kits are in school every day. This is so that when there are changes to the timetable, children do not miss out.
Who said homework had to be boring?!
Lots of English and Maths games and activities can be found on the side panel - just click on the links and have some fun!
Your child will be sent home with homework each week. On completion and return of their homework, your child will collect a sticker and eventually a prize when they have "full house."

13/10/17 - Your child should read, choose 3 or 4 spellings from their reading diary to learn and choose a times table to revisit.
Reading books and diaries should be in school every day. I will check your child's reading diary every Friday to make sure they are reading at home.
Children are expected to keep practising their times tables at home up to 12. We are sending home some games as homework to support them in this. Your child should know and be able to use the commutative method. E.g. 2x4=8 in the 4x table and 4x2=8 in the 4x table.
Next week (16/10/17)
In Maths, we will be learning doing addition and subtraction.
In English, we will be looking at persuasive texts. Our work will be based around WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature).
On Friday your child can come in dressed up as an animal of their choice. Donations are greatly appreciated but not compulsory.
Our class book
Our guided reading has focused on pulling apart chapter 1 in more depth. Your child can tell you what reading skill they were working on and what they learned (e.g. Vocaulary, Inference....).
We have read the first two chapters so far! Find out a bit more here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/cbbcnews/hi/find_out/specials/reviews/newsid_3735000/3735721.stm
